The goal of InnVision is to provide emergency shelter, transitional/supportive housing and comprehensive services for men looking to get back on their feet. In doing so the men receive a safe environment free from drugs and alcohol to work issues causing their homelessness, secure a job and search for permanent housing.
This program would not be possible without the following major contributors, partnerships and collaborators: Santa Clara County Drug and Alcohol Department, Housing and Urban Development (HUD), CDBG of San Jose and Campbell, City of San Jose, Santa Clara County Social Services, Community Faith Based Organizations, Santa Clara Adult Education, Gardner Family Healthcare for the Homeless, Kaiser Permanente, YMCA and the Valley Transportation Authority.
Men's Division |
Montgomery Street Inn | |
Montgomery Street Inn provides homeless men emergency shelter in a dorm room setting. The men receive the first 30 days free and receive case management and employment assistance. After 30 days, they pay a small program fee. Clients are able to utilize the computer lab, have weekly meetings to support recovery from drugs and alcohol, and are linked to vocational and employment services. |
Transitional/Supportive Housing |
When the men staying at the Montgomery Street Inn have secured full-time employment, they are eligible to move into the Transitional Housing Dorm. They work closely with our Transitional Housing case manager to maintain their employment and their sobriety and also begin working the search for permanent housing. Each man has his own private cubicle, available 24 hours for those working swing or graveyard shifts. The men pay a small program fee and they may stay in the Transitional Housing Dorm for a total of 10 months. |
Cecil White Center | |
The Cecil White Center is a drop-in center where anyone in need of a meal, clothing, mailing address, shower, voicemail, or information and referral can utilize the facility. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served weekdays. On weekends, an evening meal is served. A computer lab is available for housing and employment searches. Cecil White Center is the only drop-in facility in Santa Clara County that provides free showers. Cecil White Center serves an average of 300 people a day and 11,000 meals a month. |
Community Inns, Rotating Faith Based Shelter |
Twelve San Jose area faith-based organizations, rotating monthly, host up to 15 highly employable men currently clean and sober and not on probation or parole. The residents are screened through Montgomery Street Inn and then transferred over to a faith-based program. The men work closely with the Community Inns program supervisor and case manager to secure and maintain employment. The receive 90 days free housing, meals and support in the program. Each resident is given a pass to the YMCA to shower and workout. |
