Housing

Commercial Street Inn
This emergency shelter houses women and women with children. The women and children can stay up to 90 days. There are 12 family rooms and 15 cubicles for single women. Because of the facilities design, boys over the age of 11 are not permitted to stay in the shelter. Women pay a small program after the first 30 days. While in the shelter, the women work closely with a case manager to secure transitional or permanent housing, daycare, employment and counseling to break the cycle of homelessness. Meals are provided and all the residents help with daily chores. A computer lab is available on site and a "Learning Zone Homework Club" runs after school Monday through Friday for school aged children.

Montgomery Street Inn
Montgomery Street Inn provides homeless men emergency shelter in a dorm room setting. The men receive case management and employment assistance. Clients are able to utilize the computer lab, have weekly meetings to support recovery from drugs and alcohol, and are linked to vocational and employment services.

Transitional/Supportive Housing
When the men staying at the Montgomery Street Inn have secured full-time employment, they are eligible to move into the Transitional Housing Dorm. They work closely with our Transitional Housing case manager to maintain their employment and their sobriety and also begin working the search for permanent housing. Each man has his own private cubicle, available 24 hours for those working swing or graveyard shifts. The men pay a small program fee and they may stay in the Transitional Housing Dorm for a total of 10 months.

Julian Street Inn
Julian Street Inn is the only facility in Santa Clara County that provides emergency shelter to the severely mentally ill. 70 beds are available for men and women who have been diagnosed with a severe mental illness and are actively engaged in the mental health systems. Clients may stay for up to 60 days. During their stay, they participate in case management coordinated with their county mental health case manager.

Stevens House
The Stevens House opened in July 2001 for 8 "graduates" of Julian Street Inn. Residents may stay in this transitional housing for up to two years. Each resident pays a small fee and is expected to contribute 20 hours a week in community service. Weekly house meetings are facilitated by our on-site staff who works closely with each resident to make sure they are on-track with their planned goals.

SafeHaven Program
The SafeHaven Program is part of a national model to help individuals with severe mental illnesses that have avoided shelter programs in the past. The goal is to help them access services and to assist them with income maintenance support. Ten beds at Julian Street Inn are reserved for SafeHaven participants. These are individuals who have been diagnosed with a severe mental illness but are not yet receiving all of the benefits for which they qualify. A SafeHaven case manager works with them for up two years to help them through the process and help them plan for a successful reentry into permanent housing.

The Villa
The InnVision Villa provides transitional housing for single women and women with children. A community kitchen, common rooms, play area and computer lab is available for all the residents. Individual units provide a room wired for telephone and cable. The "Learning Zone Homework Club runs twice a week for the school aged children. Case management is part of the program design, with weekly house meetings and educational workshops. Residents must be employed and pay 30% of their income for rent. Residents may stay for up to two years.

HomeSafe, Santa Clara and San Jose
InnVision worked closely with Charities Housing and the Domestic Violence Collaborative to develop a transitional housing program designed specifically for survivors of domestic violence. This transitional housing program houses up to 150 women and women with children. Next Door provides the on-site support services and counseling for the women and children. The community center has a computer lab and a childcare center.

Scattered Site Permanent Supportive Housing
To ensure families remain in stable, permanent housing, InnVision offers supportive, affordable permanent housing. Families receive support services such as case management while in their permanent home so that they are more likely to thrive on their own.

14 units of Permanent Supportive Housing for families and individuals. While in housing, the residents are offered a variety of support services focused on helping them maintain permanent housing and stabilize their lives. There are no time restraints placed on the residents.

Clara-Mateo Alliance Shelter
Clara-Mateo Alliance operates a 38-bed shelter for adult singles and couples. Clients can stay in this program for up to 90 days. They pay a program fee after 30 days. The shelter program is designed to help the homeless identify and address their causes of homelessness and guide them in taking further steps toward stability such as finding employment or enrolling in job training.

Clara-Mateo Alliance Family Shelter
To address the growing number of homeless families in the Bay Area, CMA provides a six-unit family shelter. The family shelter program helps clients identify and address their causes of homelessness and begin to take the steps to remedy their situation. Meals are provided and all the residents help with daily chores. A computer lab is available on site and an after school program is offered for school aged children.

Urban Ministry Hotel de Zink
Named after a previous Palo Alto police chief from the past who opened his jail cells as shelter in the difficult winter months, this 90 day emergency shelter houses both men and women and rotates monthly between 12 host faith communities in Palo Alto and Menlo Park. Between 13 and 18 people stay each night. Openings are filled by case managers at the Opportunity Center.

The CMA Transitional Housing Program provides 28-beds for adult singles and couples. Clients can stay up to two years. Residents pay a program fee. These clients tend to have a more stable situation than shelter clients. Clients in the transitional program have addressed two areas that will help them obtain self-sufficiency. The first area is being able to identify and address the factors that caused their homelessness. The second area is that these clients have a source of stable income.

The Family Permanent Supportive Housing Program provides 18 one and two-bedroom units for families who make below 35% of the area's median income.
